Focus Area
Innovations are not those that happen in the mega laboratories of the country, involving scientists, research fellow etc, alone. Their innovations are oftentimes industry focussed and are very important to the development of a strong India. Bharat Tech Foundation wishes to bring out another type of innovation that is also very relevant and also very inspiring.
There are innovations that happen across the country that have changed the living style or livelihood of the most vulnerable section of the society. There are hundreds of such minor innovations, which have impacted the basic life of grassroot people. These have eased the life of many millions. Oftentimes, those behind these innovations are not doctorate holders or may be even not degree holders.
These come from local indigenous native people who, out of experience and out of innate abilities, bring out such innovative solutions. A simple such example would be the innovative solutioning of the workload of women folks associated with carrying water and walking huge distances. The below picture speaks more than any number of words on this matter.
Across India, thousands of such innovative solutions have taken place and are taking place. Needless to say, they have resulted in bringing in a little ease in the daily routine of the downtrodden folks.
While the mega inventions and innovations that are happening in our prestigious research institutions and laboratories are important for the high-tech growth of Indian industries, these ingenious innovations that impact the life of the common man are also equally important. While the earlier one comes with huge remunerations and awards, the later has oftentimes gone unnoticed, unrecognized and unrewarded. It is worth mentioning that these are really motivating for the public at large.
BTF believes that such inspiring innovations should reach millions of common people across the lakhs of our villages. Such an action would generate confidence in them and could raise the inquisitiveness in their minds. These could surely invigorate and encourage them to identify the local issues that they face on a day-to-day basis and also think about finding solutions to their problems.
On this matter, BTF, intends to publicize such innovations (Social Innovations). Data collection, verifications, the processes involved, the persons involved are all to be documented. These are to be scripted in a proper way that could initiate the local minds in this direction.
The Social Innovations Publicizing Project (SIPP) is aimed at the above.
